7 Year Itch?

They say in most relationships, after 7 years together, the 7 year itch kicks in.

Well...I can safely say we're not part of that statistic.

Don't believe me? See for yourself...

Blessed 7th Anniversary Baby
I LOVE YOU

Wedding (Not mine...yet)

Last weekend we had the honor of attending Ka Yin (aka Christina) and Ling Hong's wedding. I've known Ka Yin for some years now and Baby's family are very close to theirs.

The wedding
ceremony was on Saturday with two wedding banquets, one in Singapore and another in JB. We were invited to all three events. However, it wasn't just to witness the wedding (and eat free food) - we had a job to do. Baby and I were asked to emcee their wedding banquet in JB! We'll come to that part later...

Some pictures of the wedding ceremony held in Singapore...

The Bride and Groom

Dinner on Saturday night was at the
Meritus Mandarin. Food was really good here, then again, what do you expect from a five star hotel.

Besides just eating, we were also under study to the night's emcees. We were trying to pick up good points and note points where we can improve the next night.

My Date

So that was the dinner in Singapore. Didn't take many photos as there were official photographers with their big scary cameras doing their thing over there.

Then came Sunday night... All our preparations for the past couple of weeks came down to this. On Sunday afternoon were still amending out script and making some improvements.

Dinner was at Persada and food was by Pan Pacific hotel. Service wasn't that great and neither was the food spectacular. We didn't eat much anyway. Was too pre-occupied getting ready for the next program and going up stage to speak.

After a few briefing's with the program coordinators, all lights were on us...and it was show time.

My Co-Emcee

I thought we did pretty well that night...considering it was our first time.
Oh, did I mention we had to lead the toasting (yum seng) as well? So Baby started with the English well-wishes and I did my best attempt to do the Chinese. This is what I came up with for the three toasts in Chinese :
[1] 百年好合, 永結同心
[2] 白头谐老, 身体健康
[3] 早生贵子, 儿孙满堂

Not bad eh? Anyone wanna hire a couple of emcees?

The night was soon over and our jobs done...phew~ We could finally sit down and enjoy the rest of our dinner (what's left of it).

Congratulations again Ka Yin and Ling Hong, and best wishes as you begin this journey together =)

Date Night (Singapore River Festival) - 26062009

This is only the second year Singapore is having its Singapore River Festival. It runs for a week and there are a whole lot of of events happening during that period along Clarke Quay and Boat Quay area.

Baby and I thought we just head down there and have a look. However, this post is not so much about the SRF...it's just us hanging out. Haha!

Dinner was at O'Briens. It was our first time trying it out. I know
Jules is a loyal patron of them and have been raving about how it's better than Subway - I just had to find out how good it supposedly is myself.
First of all the sandwiches are different from Subway - it's not a SUB! Nevertheless, it was good and satisfying...YUM! =)

They had a buy one get one free promotion in conjunction with the SRF so both of us got a plate of this each! It was some tripple decker thing which I can't seem to remember the name.

After dinner we took a walk around the river. I didn't take much pictures of the river but there were crowds of people just sitting around and just basically hanging out on a Friday night. Plus I've never seen so many Caucasians at one place hanging out at bars. The last time I saw such a thing was back in Australia.
We wanted to go to the Asian Civilizations Museum but there was this massive queue - Singaporeans enjoying their favourite pastime. Was so tempted to ask the last person in the queue "excuse me, what are you queueing for?".

So we we walked on...
Some of the many floats...erm...floating around
We stopped by to watch a live musical.
The singers were amazingly good. Their voices were very powerful. I wonder why these talented people wouldn't' want to join some singing competition (like Singapore Idol) and earn big bucks instead. Then again it just confirms my theory that those who are good do not need to prove themselves - they just do what their good at and people will recognize them.
After much walking we headed to The Coffee Connoisseur (TCC) for some dessert. Our first time there as well.
Choicest choicest

HIS : Oreo Mocha Frappe
HERS : Pomegranate Orange Mint...
SUPER SOUR >.< (but she liked it)
I ate my Oreo before drinking the mocha and our over enthusiastic waiter came rushing to us...

waiter : You ate your Oreo already ar?
me : err...err...(I was scared there was something wrong with it)...err...why?...yes I did.
waiter : Aiyo! you shouldn't eat it first. Must dunk it in and soak it and then only eat it last.
me : erm ok...can I have another one then?
waiter : (smiles and walked away).

Man! I thought what. Scared me only. Thought I was gonna die after eating the Oreo. I like to eat my Oreo first cannot ar?
Anyway it was good nonetheless =)

Yet another wonderful close to a date night.

Farewell Grace

Last Sunday we had a farewell dinner for Grace. She's heading back to Kota Bahru to wait for her job posting after completing her studies in JB.

Before dinner, some of us came over to my place to hang-out. Actually, the main agenda was to have a Pictionary rematch. You see, the week before during the BBQ at Emily's the girls lost to the boys. However, we found out that we weren't playing it right (according to the rules) so this time, the girls with more reinforcements took on the boys in an attempt to set the record straight.

Despite having to start after the boys, the girls had a flying start to the game while the boys, although manage to guess all 6 of our first drawings, we kept rolling ONE on the dice!

As you can see the boys (blue token) are still trailing behind after getting the majority of the turns.

But that all soon changed. The boys took the lead while the girls were stuck in the same spot for the longest time.

The boys went ahead and never looked back, subsequently claiming victory for the second week in a row.

Later that evening we headed out to Korean Garden for dinner. Altogether 14 of us had a sumptuous BBQ dinner...mmm...
Kimcheeee!

The night was still young after dinner and some of us decided to try out this new juice bar down town.
The place is called Roost Juice Bar and it had a lovely vintage ambiance to it.
Menu Written on the TV

There was a vintage shop upstairs called "The Girl Next Door" (wouldn't I love to meet her).

Solve the Rubik's Cube to unlock the door

Back when no-smoking signs were not popular yet they had to print it out in four languages.

That's it. Farewell for now Grace. Hope to see you again soon. All the best.

Cheers!

Sexy Football

I know I've not done a footie post for sometime. There was so much hype about my team, Liverpool at the start of the season, but yet again we failed to win anything! But we can take comfort that we came close...then again close is still NOTHING! Sigh.

Anyway, this post is not about Liverpool.
It's about football, and the best passing team in the world. That's right, if you've guessed FC Barcelona, you know your football. And it is with this simple technique, the fundamental and basics of the beautiful game that they won the treble this season.

A tribute to Barcelona - Kings of Europe. Thanks for making the beautiful game even more beautiful.

Football 101
Triangle passing at its best

Now that's what I call sexy football. All this thanks to this man...

Pep Guardiola

...and his motivational video. How do you beat a team who watched this video 10 mins before the game - simply amazing.
